Atelier Informatik (Dipl.-Inform. Max-Gerd Retzlaff)

Dipl.-Inform. Max-Gerd Retzlaff

Senefelderstraße 26 (EG re), 10437 Berlin, Germany

Abstract: This is the workshop of Max-Gerd Retzlaff, a laboratory of research and realization, providing infrastructure for experimentation, prototyping and demonstration.

I.SCOPE

The following list describes in a non-exhaustive manner activities and operations that a visitor of the place might observe—and join in—at the Atelier Informatik.

II.DELIMITATIONS

Any topic that is currently in a state of being hyped is looked at with great skepticism in this place. Instead, timeless concepts are preferred.

The reader should not misunderstand this as a rejection of innovation. New technology and novel ideas are definitely welcome. But not just for the sake of the newness.

Axiom 1. Value existing technology that proved their worth.

Lemma 2. Look at novel ideas as they might solve problems in a better way.

Corollary 3. Do not throw away what you have just because there is something new and shiny on the doorstep.

If a unique idea survived a long time, it is taken as a hint that there is something special about it. Maybe an indication that there is quality to be found there, even if it may present in obscure form.

1.HIRING

Instead of joining in, you can also hire Max' company Defsystem UG (haftungsbeschränkt) or him as a freelancer. The Atelier Informatik is a place of work, after all! He is a graduate and PhD candidate of the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) with a diploma in informatics (computer science). For his thesis he received an award as best final thesis.

In addition to completely new projects, he is good at understanding big and complex systems, even without or with scarce documentation, and can improve or extend them. Not only small changes but also more complex additions that require design changes. He can also just document and explain your custom software system if that is all you need.

He does not think worse is better and prefers quality. So come to him if it is important for your project that it is correct and works, not just sometimes. Or if you went somewhere else and were told, it is not possible. Or if you have a concept for something that you have not seen yet anywhere and would like someone to make it work.

Have a look at his CV on the Defsystem page or at his home page matroid.org for more information.
